It’s that time of year again where we get a glimpse of new kinds of phones and wearable devices. Now we are also getting a glimpse of all the smart watches we’re going to see in the not too distant future. This year, we’re expecting to see a number of new features introduced in the new smart watches (and other wearables) including more waterproofing features and improved displays.
What’s most exciting about next year is that many of the upcoming smart watches will be running Android Nougat. Let’s take a look at the five watches we’ll see the most prominently launching with Android Nougat:
Fitbit
The brand new Fitbit Ace 2 is one of the most exciting smart watches for the year 2020. This watch’s most impressive features include blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate monitoring, app-based sleep tracking, and sleep monitoring. As the first wearable from the company to make it to the States, Fitbit’s Ace 2 is almost guaranteed to be a hit with parents.
As for the design of the device, it sports a 1.2-inch Gorilla Glass 5+ curved AMOLED display, a 0.8-inch AMOLED display for notifications and a 1.9-inch AMOLED display for the fitness tracking features. Under the hood there’s dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 processors and 4GB of internal storage. The Ace 2 runs on a 1.3-inch capacitive user interface skinned with Android Nougat. If you’re worried about it looking a little weird, this nifty tutorial shows you how to make your watch instantly smart.
Sibellis Prime 1
Starting with the small matter of showing off its latest product, Sibellis Prime 1’s first smartwatch will be running Android Nougat. There’s no word on the exact specifications of the device yet, but its official user manual states it will use 3M Gorilla Glass 5 & 7 on the screen and it will be wearing two different kinds of straps on different edges, one on the left and one on the right sides of the screen. The watch will be utilizing Ampere Flash Radio, American Crystal Engine, Pekovite, and DiSIBIO M1 processors. The watch is also “game-ready”. As you can see in the accompanying video, Sibellis Prime 1 will have an 800×1,000 screen resolution and a 1.6-inch 9.8mm crystal AMOLED display. Furthermore, the watch can also be paired with a Quick Charge 3.2+ wired charger so you can juice it up in 30 minutes and it will turn off in 24 minutes after charging.
Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus
This year might be a departure from Samsung’s usual design aesthetic, as it will be launching multiple models that will all feature the same big, flat display on the front of their designs. As for different sized models of the Galaxy S21, you can expect the biggest to come with a 48-inch display. Also, befitting the phone’s mid-level capacity, we’re expecting two models with a 64-inch screen. Besides that, you can expect 10GB or 16GB of internal storage. Samsung’s other line of smart watches aren’t expected to be launching with Nougat (the Galaxy Watch Active 2), but they will come with 2GB of internal storage. The earbuds running Android, such as the latest Galaxy Buds 3, will be launching on November 20th at the latest.
Huawei
The next smart watch we’re expecting to see from Huawei is the Watch 5. This will be a larger model from the company, as it will expand Huawei’s smartwatch lineup. Don’t expect it to resemble the more conservative smart watch it launched with the Watch 4 earlier this year. It’s claimed the Watch 5 will have either a 1.1-inch AMOLED or 1.3-inch QHD+ display. On the outside, there’s a curved screen, a 360 × 800 pixel resolution, a p2.5millimeter vent for noise cancellation, face detection, standard-carried health tracking, and EMIR technology for added accuracy.
The Watch 5 is expected to be paired with a Snapdragon 845 processor, have a super-fast 11W recharge (with same standard charging), up to 600mAh battery, and two cameras. We’re predicting that there will be a 45mm or 65mm version with the bigger display that will also have two cameras on the back (behind a 2.5mm lens) where you can see two more
